Police: Woman took 262 Oxycontin pills in armed pharmacy robbery | News
NEWTON, NC (WBTV)- Police in Newton are asking for the public's help in identifying two people they say are responsible for an armed robbery at a local pharmacy.
The robbery happened on Sunday, February 17, at the CVS on Northwest Boulevard.
Responding officers were told a woman came into the store, walked directly to the back pharmacy area, and gave the pharmacist a note demanding Oxycontin. The note also stated that the woman had a gun, and that the pharmacist was not to call police, officials said.
The pharmacist gave the woman 262 pills of 30 mg Oxycontin and she left the building, the report states.
When the female first entered the store, police say a man came in right behind her and stayed near the front of the store. When the female left, the man made a quick purchase and left after telling the clerk he would "try to get the tag number of the female's truck," but did not appear to be in a hurry, according to witnesses.
The two were parked next to each other in the parking lot, and left the store traveling in the same direction, police said.
The female is described as white, 5'7" to 5'9", with a rough facial complex. She was wearing black boots, purple pants, pink shirt, red coat with black and white sleeves, a black toboggan, and dark sunglasses.
She was driving a dark Dodge Ram 4-door truck with chrome rims.
The male is described as a white, 6' to 6'2", bald with a mustache and goatee. He had tattoo sleeves on both arms, and three silver rings on his left hand. He was wearing a blue long-sleeve shirt with a white logo on the chest and on the left sleeve, dirty blue jeans, black work boots, and glasses.
He was driving a white pick-up truck.
Police told WBTV they believe the duo is committing the same type of crime at several pharmacies in the area from Dallas, Stanly, to Huntersville.
Anyone with any information about this case or either suspect is asked to call the Newton Police Department at (828)465-7430.
