GRANITE FALLS - Two Lenoir women were arrested Monday after police found nearly $2,000 in stolen clothes and jewelry from Belk's in their car.

Brenda Lee Horton, 48, and Linda Darlene Mull, 52, were pulled over around 10:22 p.m. on US 321 near North Highland Avenue in Granite Falls for following too close to other cars, according to Granite Falls Police.

Officers found $1,748 in stolen clothes and jewelry from the Belk's store in Hickory along with several pieces of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Horton was also wanted for failing to appear in court on larceny charges.

The duo was arrested on a number of charges including larceny, possession of stolen goods, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to appear, resist, delay and obstruct an officer and traffic charges.

Horton and Mull were placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center. Horton was given a $13,000 bond and Mull received a $6,500 bond.

Both ladies have a first court date set for January 6.
