Catawba Science Center hosts annual Italian Dinner this Saturday

HICKORY, NC (WBTV) - Now in its 26th year, Roman Holiday is the single annual fundraising event to benefit Catawba Science Center's exhibits and programs. 

Guests will begin the evening with a cocktail hour and games including the Guild’s signature Wine Wall and a “Heads or Tails” game for a chance to win a Grove Park getaway. Following drinks and games, guests will be served a three course Italian meal with wine and enjoy a silent auction featuring original works of art, decorative items and designer furniture.

In addition, guests will have the opportunity to bid on live auction items featuring a Costa Rican adventure, vacation packages, behind the scenes experiences at CSC’s aquarium and a Fund-A-Cause to refurbish CSC’s traveling Dinosaurs exhibit.

Dress for the event is cocktail attire or toga wear in keeping with the theme Roman Holiday. The Guild invites all interested guests to model their togas for a chance to win a cash prize.

CONCORD, NC (WBTV) - The world's largest automotive extravaganza returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway, promising something for everyone!

Anyone with an interest in automotive history won’t want to miss the display honoring the oldest American car manufacturer, Buick, which will include a 1905 Model C that is believed to be one of the oldest Buicks still in existence today. In conjunction with the display, NASCAR great Bobby Allison, who twice drove a Buick to victory in the Daytona 500, will be on hand for an autograph session from 2 to 3pm on Saturday, April 21st.

Those with an interest in rare cars should be sure to check out Tom Cotter’s 1952 Cunningham C-3 that will take center stage in the Barn Finds display.

SPENCER (Rowan County)  - The N.C. Transportation Museum has a bonus weekend of Steam Engine Caboose Train rides Saturday, April 14, as filming for a new television show takes place.

Up in the Air Productions is filming “John and Barney: Have Engine, Will Travel.”  The show follows father and son team John and Barney Gramling, owners of the Flagg 75 Coal Engine and the Lehigh Valley #126 Steam Locomotive.  They move those engines across the country, giving rides at tourist railroads and museums in 15 states at 18 different railroad museums.

The Catawba Science Center invites you to join the dino egg hunt!

HICKORY, NC (WBTV) - Catawba Science Center (CSC) invites you to participate in a dinosaur egg hunt!   Participants will hunt for more than 600 eggs hidden amongst the Dinosaurs in Carpenter Hall and throughout CSC exhibit areas in the main building. Each egg has a treat inside. The lucky person who finds the golden egg will receive a special prize. Early-check starts at 9:30am in the North Lobby.

The American Legion hosts an Easter Egg Hunt Saturday

CONOVER, NC (WBTV) - An American Legion Post 48 tradition continues Saturday, with an Easter Egg hunt at the fairgrounds.  Children up to the age of 12 are invited to participate.  Prizes will be given out at the end of the egg hunt. 

The American Legion is a nonprofit organization and is the nation's largest organization of wartime veterans.
