Local firefighters win National Fallen Firefighters Golf Tournament | Community Spirit

HICKORY - Hickory firefighters (Tim Greene, Jeff Kanupp, Brian Murray, and Tony Waters) participated and won the National Fallen Firefighters Golf Tournament, held at Bentwinds Country Club in Fuquay-Varina on June 11th. 

The tournament travels across the country to raise money for families of fallen firefighters.

In 2011, tournaments raised over $300,000 in support of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation programs and over $40,000 for North Carolina families, which was the largest amount in the eight years of the tournament.

Competing against 40 teams, they scored a team score of 53 (19 under par) and finished 1st representing the state of North Carolina for the second time in three years.
