HICKORY, NC (WBTV)- A Hickory City council candidate, who was charged with indecent liberties with a child, will remain on the ballot for next week's election. He bonded out of jail on Monday evening.
Joseph Brannock was arrested after a minor came forward and filed a complaint.
He was arrested on Friday and charged with indecent liberties with a child, driving without registration and insurance, driving with a revoked license and failure to reduce speed.
Brannock was a substitute teacher and WBTV has learned the young female alleged victim was in a school where he taught.
His attorney waived his first appearance and he wasn't required to come to court on Monday morning.
The attorney says the charges are a shock to all who know him.
Brannock bonded out of the Catawba County Jail on Monday evening. He was being held on a $41,500 bond.
